A Bean Counters First Blog

July 13, 2010

MyAccounts Figures Out Social Media Tools:

Today my web seo and social marketing consultant plugged in my blog tool to my lnnocent Little Website. I am now armed to take on the might of the Giant Bean Counters.

A Plan for a Plan!!

I have my new tool, my social marketing tool, all I need now is something to say!

That something to say, is meant to be a "Plan" , a "marketing plan" even, from the little I have read in the last short while and from my initial trips into the virtual realm of social media tools such as Twitter and Linkedin, even a bit of wordpress, what I have read has said and repeatedly emphasised was "Do Not Hard Sell", "Do not tweet the mundane" or the private bits and bobs especially about what you are doing every single minute of every single day", "Only tweet or blog about "something that might be of interest" to your peers, your potential customers et al".

All at Sea!!

Knowing what to say, how to say it, where to say it even when to say it, this is going to be the steep learning curve, but I am not alone, it seems a lot of my customers, potential clients, suppliers, friends and peers are all in the same boat. We are at sea in the jetsum and flotsam (not sure I even spelt them correctly) of the new social media realm.

Armed to the Teeth!!

We have no marketing departments, we have no budget, we have just learnt how to turn the computer on and now we have to learn how to use a multitude of new pieces of software from facebook to twitter in order for us to try and get our businesses seen in this ultra highspeed and often fickle networks of potential mass but more than likely micro consumption.

I am now better armed, but I need to get my kids to train me how to point the gun, never mind that I can`t even find the target, what am I talking about, I don`t even know where to go to get the bullets.

Ask the experts!!

I know, I will embrace the cloud, go on linkedin ask those that might know, go onto google get some direction, go onto twitter and ask for some more opinions re same. I suppose I only need to know enough to ask and recognise the fact that I need to become a sponge, I will not learn by osmosis but I will learn by asking the experts to impart a little of what they know to help me to learn to ask the right questions and I might even use what little budget I have to pay for those answers, as I can see more clearly now the value or return on Investment (ROI) of taking this time out to figure out what it is all about.

So much for counting beans!!!
